Miller Blue
"Us (Orchestral)"

British Alt-R&B and soul artist Miller Blue unveils another jewel from the vaults

British Alt-R&B and soul artist Miller Blue unveils another jewel from the vaults with the orchestral version of his 2020 fan-favourite ‘Us’ - the second single release from his forthcoming Orchestral Sessions EP via Tiger Bright. The upcoming EP mainly consists of a number of tracks from his 2020’s EP, Sunflower. In creating the EP, Miller worked alongside Slovenian producer Sare Havlicek who enlisted a small string orchestra to create the upcoming EP. It follows the release of the season shifting ‘Blush - Orchestral Version’ released at the beginning of June.
‘Us (Orchestral Version)’ sees Miller Blue revisit one of his most cherished tracks with a newfound sense of vulnerability. Where the original leaned into a mellow, more innocent tone, this reimagining brings a deeper wisdom and emotional gravity—reflected in both Miller’s vocal delivery and presence. The London crooner slows things down, holding onto every word, echoing the fragile hope of preserving a relationship on the brink. The atmospheric intro alone paints a picture of the Alt R&B singer at the edge of a cliff - sunrise or sunset in front of him, patiently awaiting with anticipation, unsure whether love will show. At its core, ‘Us (Orchestral Version)’ captures the emotional weight of holding onto something meaningful, while coming to terms with not knowing where he stands: “Well, this could be us, girl, roaming around, nowhere to be / Forever enough, girl, all that I know is all I see.”
When talking around ‘Us (Orchestral Version)’ Miller mentions “Us was written in a spirit of playfulness and intrigue, a snapshot of a time when I was chasing connection but maybe not fully grounded in myself. Rehearing it now, especially with the strings, it almost feels like a letter to my younger self. There’s pride in seeing how far I’ve come, and the arrangement really captures that journey of growth”.
Alongside the release of the track, Miller has recorded a beautiful live rendition of ‘Us’, accompanied by a gorgeous string section. The session captures the same tranquil, emotive essence as the studio version, with the Shropshire-raised soulman tapping into the same emotive performance that brings new depth and intimacy to the track. With support of a beautiful cinematic orchestration, including a selection of Slovenia's finest classically trained musicians, the production is rich and expansive. Sweeping strings and delicate instrumentation offer space for both tenderness and tension, transforming the song into a soulful, orchestral meditation on love and its uncertainties.
Since its original release in 2020, ‘Us’ has garnered over 11 million streams on Spotify alone and led to Miller securing a live performance of the track for COLORS’ HOME/BRED sessions during the pandemic. Showing no signs of slowing down, he has gone on to accumulate millions more streams across his growing catalogue and has received support from key tastemakers including Notion, CLASH, and Complex UK, earning his status as an essential voice in the UK alt-R&B scene. He stepped onto the scene with his 2019 debut EP Cotton via Unity Records, introducing a soulful, jazz-infused sound. He followed up with Sunflower in 2020, a genre-blending project merging smooth R&B, electronica, and jazz. In 2021, he dropped the introspective The Tree of Tenéré, further cementing his reputation for heartfelt songwriting. Most recently, his 2023 EP 4 Degrees of Separation offered a deeper exploration of love and relationships, showcasing his growth both lyrically and sonically.
‘Us (Orchestral Version)’ cements Miller Blue’s ability to reflect on his earlier work and, where it feels right, elevate it with the maturity and artistry he has developed since. It shows the courage to revisit past material—not to perfect it, but to reimagine it through a more evolved lens. With Miller taking this refreshing approach to Orchestral Sessions EP, we’re left eager to hear how he reinterprets the rest of the tracks. If this is Miller Blue looking back, we can only imagine the breadth of artistry he has yet to share with the world for the next decade and beyond.
